Baptism

Baptism is a response to God’s love – a desire and a commitment to respond to God’s call to follow the example of Jesus Christ. It is also a celebration, a time to come together with family and friends; remembering that you are loved by God, are part of a wider community and have a place with God’s people.

In the case of infant or child baptism, Godparents and parents/carers respond to questions about the faith they have, and the faith they promise to share with their child as he/she grows. They make a commitment to raise their child in a particular manner, and to draw on that faith for themselves.

For older children and adults the questions asked will be answered by the candidate, or by the candidate and parents/Godparents together.
